Zubaz & Cats in Cars

March 15th, 2012

I’ve been toiling away at a handful of different projects lately. Below is some work for Beer On The Rug. Some website assets and some coozies the guys at the label had printed up with my logo on ‘em.

And here’s some recent CVLTS biz(EP, single, flier):

I finished up a drawing:

and finally here’s an illustration I knocked out in a hour for fun. I saw a great pic of some early 90s kids in their zubaz and just had to draw something…

I’ll close things out with some links:

I love the second pic on this page http://monsterbrains.blogspot.com/2012/02/extraterrestrials-1975.html

Here’s another excellent monsterbrains post: http://monsterbrains.blogspot.com/2012/02/sergey-tyukanov.html

The animated embroidery piece on this page is really great: http://www.cartoonbrew.com/animated-fragments/animated-fragments-17.html

Absolutely love the photography here http://notifbutwhen.com/

Here’s a great collection of John Hinde’s postcards: http://www.johnhindecollection.com/johnhindepostcard_archive.html

Changes and some recent works

February 27th, 2012

You may have noticed that I’ve reorganized The Centaur Reader a bit. I made www.centaurreader.com my digital portfolio and moved the blog here to blog.centaurreader.com. My posting here on the blog is going to change a little bit. I plan to post more work-in-progress art, links to design & artwork I find interesting or inspiring as well as continuing to post my most recent completed works. In the next few weeks, I plan to implement comments on the blog again as well as designing a mobile theme for checking out the site while on the go. With that out of the way I’ll get to posting some works here…

I finished up the wasteland birds illustration from my last post and laid it out as a postcard. So here’s that all mocked up…click the image below to view a larger version.

…and here’s a shirt I designed for High Diving Ponies. The shirts are printed on Gildan tees and available directly from the band.

I’ve also been working on some drawings suitable for framing. I go through a lot of Bristol board while working on design projects and have always felt terrible recycling it or even worse throwing it away. Anyway, I started using the Bristol board for scrap paper to doodle on with my favorite mechanical pencils while killing time waiting for something to render on the PC, waiting on an up/download or just while taking a break.  I really started packing the pages with drawings as I didn’t want to waste a single bit of paper and the pages really took on a new life. The type or drawings used in my projects started to fade into the mess of doodles and after inking the pencil drawings the effect got even more intense. The next step is to work with some monochromatic watercolor over the ink drawings but here are a couple in-process pieces:

I’m still doing a bit of sketching on this one. No ink down yet.

This piece is all inked up and ready for some watercolor.

I’ll be sure to post all of these pieces when they’re finished…speaking of finished pieces, I’ll finish this post off with a recently completed drawing that I posted to my twitter but hadn’t shared it here on the blog. Enjoy.

Goat of the Month Club

January 26th, 2012

I created this wallpaper (for both 16:9 and 5:4 monitors) for a silly little club I run in which members are emailed some basic info about a particular breed of goat each month. Feel free to subscribe by emailing goatofthemonthclub @ gmail.com with ‘Subscribe’ in the subject field.
